Hello everyone, Jonny here. I hope you're all doing well this fine Friday. I'm here to share some exciting news about the latest update to our software, Cleft Beta Build 13, which we have now rolled out on April 5th, 2024. This version is available for both Mac and iOS users, make sure to update the app please.
Introduction
First off, a massive thank you to everyone who's been using Cleft and sharing their feedback. Your insights have been incredibly valuable, and they've directly influenced the improvements and new features we're introducing in this update. Cleft isn't just a tool; it's a collaborative partner, and your input helps us make it better for everyone.
Release Highlights
Copy markdown or plain text
One of the standout features in this update, which many of you have requested, is the ability to copy markdown or plain text on iOS. We've made it straightforward to use this feature; simply click on the share item to get started. This should make it easier to share and use your notes in various contexts.
Custom Instructions feature added on macOS
For our Mac users, we're trialling custom instructions in an experimental mode. This is our first iteration, and we're keen to hear your thoughts on it. The aim is to offer more personalised guidance and support within the editor, helping your notes to sound as close to your voice as possible.
Done and clear button
We've also introduced a ’done’ and ‘clear’ button above the keyboard on iOS to streamline note management on iPad and iPhone devices. Alongside UI improvements, we've given the entire app a visual overhaul, introducing new colours and background styles to improve visual appeal, readability, and focus. We've also reduced extra space at the top and bottom of the list and editor for a cleaner look.
Bug Fixes
This release addresses several bugs, including an upload alert on iOS to let you know if something is affecting your note uploads, with an alert now prompting you to retry, mitigating network issues. We've fixed an issue where the button to delete your account wasn't working, and we've resolved a display zoom issue on iOS, enhancing the accessibility and usability of the app.
Improvements
User Interface
Thanks to your feedback, we've made several improvements. The user interface on iPhone and iPad has been completely revamped, offering a fresh and more intuitive user experience. We've also made it possible to sort notes by creation date, rather than the date they were last updated.
Action Button Shortcut Upgrade for iPhone 15 and 15 Pro Max Users
Users with iPhone 15 may now assign the Action button to record when you hold it down. This will automatically start a new note. (Forgot to mention this when I hit record on this version!).
Publish Button
Lastly, we've updated the publish button, so you can now share your web link using that button, which you'll find in the top right on your Mac and in the options button on your iPhone or iPad.
Wrap Up
Your support and feedback have been overwhelming and instrumental in making this release possible. A big thank you from myself, Justin, and the team. Let's keep the momentum going and continue to share your thoughts and feedback with us.
Remember, Cleft is here to be the best collaborative partner you've got in your pocket. So, keep those Cleft notes links coming, and let's keep getting our thoughts flowing to our inbox and the roadmap.
Talk to you soon, and thank you.
